Low rise has been a trend for several years now in jeans, pants - any kind of bottoms that you can think of for men and women. Underwear is a natural for this trend. For one thing, it has to keep up with the rise of whatever people are wearing, but it also is much more attractive when people are only wearing their underwear.

Trunks are a natural for a lower rise because they are designed with shorter legs than a boxer brief. The more compact design hits below your waistline, so it reduces the appearance of "love handles" that are often exaggerated by elastic waistbands. The shorter legs also make your legs appear longer. It's a great look on pretty much every guy, and the trend doesn't seem to be going anywhere any time soon.
