Cotton is in most of the garments that you wear in your daily life. Why should it be any different for your underwear? Its exceptional softness and durability has made it the ultimate fabric choice for most manufacturers. The majority of boxer briefs are usually made with at least 90% Cotton, and often close to 10% stretch fabric. Though there are some boxer briefs that are made of 100% Cotton for totally uncompromised comfort. There are several different ways in which cotton can be produced that can affect the quality of the fabric- including the species of cotton, weaving technique, and treatment.
“Long staple” cotton, for instance, produces a superior fiber bloom and counts among its species both Pima and Egyptian cotton, which are often used to produce the most high-quality, in both softness and durability, of garments. Jersey-knit (traditionally associated with underwear) is an ideal weaving process for cotton underwear that produces a soft and lightweight fabric with built-in stretch that does not require the addition of a stretch fabric; most 100% cotton underwear is produced using this method. If cotton is your fabric of choice then you’re in luck!
