BRA FITTING ADVICE FROM THE EXPERT
Tomima Edmark is THE leading undergarment expert. Here are her suggestions for the best bra styles for you to choose in order to get the best feel and fit possible.
"Almost every type of bra (strapless, seamless, demi etc.) on the market today can be found in almost any size. Manufacturers do this because there is the demand. However, just because a bra style is available in your size, this doesn't mean it will work the same for you. You need to know and understand your figure and its limitations. By way of example, take strapless bras. After a size 40D, a strapless bra is simply not going to work as well as a strapless bra will on a woman with a smaller cup and band size. You are better off with a long line bra. Convertible bras - These are not really for anyone with heavy or large breasts. Manufacturers make them in your size, but you should know those skimpy straps might be uncomfortable. A demi cup in large band sizes is simply not going to give the same support as a full cup bra. Wide-set strap bras will not work on women with sloping shoulders. Bandeau bras work best for the young and self-supporting breasts - large busted women will look droopy. Triangle bras simply have less breast coverage. Large breasted women will have breast spillage and almost no support."
"The point to all of this is that you need to take control of your bra choices. It may come in your size, but make sure it is doing the job you want it to do."
"We can bleach our white lingerie until the day it starts looking dingy. Then, as Mom said, 'when it looks gray, throw it away.'"
The quintessential lingerie wardrobe to cover any fashion situation
"Have you ever bought a last-minute outfit on the day of a big soire only to discover that you don't have the right bra? Every one of us, at one time or another has not had that "right" piece of lingerie just when we need it.
Lingerie Essentials is a comprehensive lingerie check list. If you have all these items, you should be covered for any situation, so to speak. We're not suggesting that you have to own all of these items -- we simply offer our list to compare with your wardrobe needs".
A Few Words About Color
Unless you're going for the "Sex and the City" look, you probably want your lingerie to be unobtrusive. So, your lingerie wardrobe should include the color basics -- a nude or flesh tone (as close to the color of your skin as possible), black, ecru and white. In this age of wonderful flesh-tone underwear, you may be wondering "why white?" Well, in keeping with the long tradition, handed down from mother to daughter, we can bleach our white lingerie until the day it starts looking dingy. Then, as Mom said, "When it looks gray, throw it away." If you wear a lot of a particular color, you'll probably want lingerie in that color as well. A black bra strap or slip peeking out of a red dress is either a fashion statement or a fashion faux pas. Either way, it's noticeable. Color in panties and thongs is another issue.
Since low-rise styles can generate unexpected viewings of your panties, it's more fun to expose a colored pair rather than a white or nude one. So, by all means, select fun, lacy colorful panties if you know there's a chance they might be seen.
